Sadly, nobody knows what you may find you like.

I too used Dean Markley's in the 70's

Have tried all of the above mentioned.

When I finally settled on the strings I've been using over 20 years now.

I settled on Rotosound Super Bronze.

You can get them on the Strings And Beyond website.

But that's me. You do you.

Interesting. Only the core wire touches the saddle.

I use the Rotosound phos Bronze on my J45 after trying out just about every string I could find.. mind you it is not a standard j45...

Default Figured it out

I decided to call Music Villa and ask if they know which strings Gibson ships the J-45s to them with. They said, while it might be the Gibson brand, Music Villa puts D'Addario EJ16 phosphor bronze on if they restring them before shipping them out. That's exactly the set I have in hand now, and which will soon be on the J-45.

(Note: mine was on their "shelf" for about 14 hours before I bought it, so I doubt they restrung mine. So, the D'Addario set might actually be different from what's been on it so far!)

Thanks to those who recommended the EJ16s in this thread.

Some day I'll try different string types, but for now I'm still getting used to the instrument, and I want to know the sound of these strings intuitively before I experiment with new ones.
