00,00 or OM Which do you prefer and why
Pulling the trigger on an Pre war and the last decision is the body style. I enjoy all three and cant decide so I will seek the counsel of the peanut gallery. Battle for your favorite. Thanks

OM's are my go-to. 00s can be great. I have a Santa Cruz 00 and it is fantastic with wonderful tone. But in general, OMs give me the more balanced sound I am looking for.

I’m a bit confused by your inquiry: you’re asking about the differences between Double O’s (00’s) twice.
Did you mean 0, 00 and OM, or 00, 000, and OM? Wade Hampton Miller |

Generally prefer 000 over OM for the short scale. But these days, the 00 body is appealing for the smaller, more comfortable playing. They often tend to be a thinner body as well, but not always. I also prefer 14 fret to 12 fret. The ideal is a 00 or 000/OM body with a short scale that joins at the 12 fret by moving the bridge farther onto the body. You get the best of everything - decent volume and tone with a super-comfy short scale. Add a cutaway for access to the upper frets (that you lose with a 12th fret neck/body join) and you've got it all. I doubt you can get that in a Prewar though! It does just happen to be on my RainSong Shorty thought! I see you're in New Hampshire. Welcome from a fellow NH player.

OM all the way. Take the long scale and the added power!

Several years ago it was 000/OM. Now I find 00s to be most comfortable. The size just fits my frame better.

I like the 00 and 000 for the short scale.

I like 000 (when I'm not playing my usual Gibson Jumbo-shaped guitars).
The 000 has the shorter scale. I start hearing a hint of "boxy" with a 00. The OM is okay, but has the longer scale (though I'd take an OM-21). I'm mostly a Gibson guy, but I own one Martin and it's a 000. It's a great guitar. |

I recently was mugged by an OM-28 that ended up going home with me. It's my first Martin. I chose it because of the extra high-end shimmer, bass, and extra tension that the longer scale offers when compared to the 000-28.
I do understand the scale length differences because I also have a Taylor 12 fret short scale. Bob

It really depends on the guitar / builder.
That said, I think the 000-12 design is just about perfect.

It looks as though we're talking about the Double O, the Triple O and the OM. Of the three, I find the 14 fret Triple O to be the most versatile instrument and most comfortable to play overall.

I like my 000 for the short scale. It makes a great pair with my dread. If I was only going to have one guitar I reckon it would be an OM-28.

Crashing your thread a bit I guess, the right answer for me is 00, 000, 0000 all 12-frets, 000 & 0000 being long scale. More is more! Except for frets, where 12 is more than 14.
