Default Xmas Present Suggestions

Seriously .... Does anyone have an idea of what to get a guitarist / multi instrumentalist musician that has everything for Xmas?

One year someone gave me a gift card to the GC String Club. You get a set of strings every month.

I found it to be a very practical gift.

I found those battery powered string winders also to be a very useful gift.

Good luck!!!

My kids love to buy Christmas and birthday presents. What I always tell them is this:

I love the sentiment and, of course, enjoy receiving a gift but my children are children and I'm a grown-up with a job. Anything they buy me is appreciated because they specifically thought of me.

More importantly, they do have a currency that I can't compete with - their time. Their time on this Earth is invaluable. I value their time more than material so, whenever possible, I ask them to give me a gift of their time instead of things. That's a gift they can afford and one I value much more.

This past birthday they all agreed and we made pacts to do family activities: we went to a favorite museum of mine, a football game together, a concert, etc.

So......

If it is truly someone who has everything, think about giving them time or experiences. Take them to a music museum or a concert or an event.

For example, if they are near PA, plan a trip to Nazareth. If they are in AZ plan a trip to the MIM.

Those, IMO, are wonderful gifts.

How about the Precision : Crystal guitarist's nail file. The quality and surface are unique - I developed it as a single tool to shape and finish nails to perfection for fingerstyle guitar tone (there is also a Pro version developed specifically for players with artificial nails). But it is actually a perfect nail file for absolutely anyone.

Check out the details on my site Wolfram Slides. There are also several threads of reviews here on AGF:

A subscription to the Fretboard Journal. In my opinion, the finest guitar-related periodical available...

Perhaps a necktie. Or an airplane. One or the other.

Even someone that has 'everything' wants something more. The problem is that they are usually the only one that knows what that 'something' is.

Let them choose by giving them a gift card to a place like Musician's Friend.

A gift card to Sweetwater, Guitar Center, or other seller will always be appreciated and used. Something else may end up as a dust collector.
