Default Need Capo Recommendation for 1 3/4" Authentic Type Necks

Anyone have a recommendation for a good capo that will work well with the thicker necks found on the Martin Authentics with 1 3/4" nut?
I've tried my standard Dunlop and Kyser capos and they just can't handle the beefier necks very well. They do fine on my mod-v necks, but strain to open wide enough on the Authentic stuff and tend to throw the tuning off.

Thanks in advance,

John

I primarily use Elliott and KatEyz. However, there's very little wrong with a Shubb and they're readily available. I prefer the Shubb Deluxe for thicker necks.

IF you are having a problem with the Kysers then get a Shubb.

I like the Elliott capos but there's a new wide version of the Shubb fine tune that would work well.

Hi John. I use the Planet Waves NS Screw Capo for regular necks, and like the Planet Waves NS Artist for the thicker necks like on my CS-21-11 and the OM-28 Authentic (now sold). The nice thing about the Planet Waves series is that YOU control the extent of the clamping pressure. They are easier to use and much better, IMO, than the Shubb.

Here's a quick pic - Dunlop, Victor and Shubb both worked on a '37 D-18 A, But I needed to order a custom made from Elliott for my Gibson Legend. Its awesome.

G7th original performance capo works up to the 7th fret on my OM-18A.

I don't notice any tuning disruption. Easy on, quick release. No threaded adjustment required, just press and it holds. Plus it doesn't buzz.

Hey John,

I use a G7th performance 2, but it gets buzzy if you pick a note hard or do a hard pull off. I know many people laugh at at a $160 capo. I hardly ever use one, but I felt like buying myself a little present. Well, dealing with Melisa and Phill are amazing, the capo is art, but it functions impeccably, never sharp, never fiddley, never buzzes with hard snapped notes, one hand operation. I ordered the Elite and got the $45 case too! The 1 3/4" model fits up to the 5th fret on the 1 13/16" nut Mod V 000-18NB. I think it's a bargain and one of the best guitar accessories I've purchased. I know your guitars and they deserve an Elliot!

BTW, Elliott makes a $99 version (the Integrity) and G7th have just come out with a rather cool concept $120 capo, the Heritage.

I bought one of the Shubb Deluxe S3v like in Duluthdan's photo for my '43 LG2 that has a baseball bat neck.

I've found the G7 Newport model to work just fine.
