Default Mystery Guitar

Can anyone identify this guitar? There is some thread of a theory that it is an early Alverez, perhaps a custom one off. It has a three piece back with (looks like brazilian) rosewood and maple in the middle. Identification is a D-38 with a serial number - 03627
