Thanks guys.

I tried a Shubb and it always seemed to be precariously balanced and often popped off the neck, sometimes fairly violently!

I'll look into the PW and G7 capos.

John

Wow, I have never had a Shubb pop off any guitar, and that's actually my first choice on my D28 '37 and OM18 '33 Authentics. Because it's firm, no buzz and it's functional. The Planet Waves is also very funcational on these guitars.

Having said that, the G7th Performance is my favorite capo from the usability and visual perspectives. But they just do NOT work as well for me on Martin necks. I have not tried the Newport, but it's the next capo I plan to buy ... I use capos like 40-50% for different reasons, and basically assign different capos to different guitars.

The Shubb BTW works on everything, but nothing beats the G7th one handed functionality and its adjustable tension -- for me.

I use the Elliott Elite on my D 28 Authentic - works great.

The authentic necks vary widely. But on my OM-28A 1931 I use an Elliot with the longer width. Seems to work fine on everything I own.

I've tried my standard Dunlop and Kyser capos and they just can't handle the beefier necks very well. They do fine on my mod-v necks, but strain to open wide enough on the Authentic stuff and tend to throw the tuning off.

Thanks in advance,

John
I would consider one of the capos with an open clamp design. G7th P2 is my personal favorite, but Shubb is also a fine option. You may want to avoid the Elliott style capo unless you are confident it is sized correctly.

And here I still feel bad about playing full retail for a Shubb.
