NuGD! 2018 Heinonen SJ

Beauty meets tone in this wonderful Cedar over Coco SJ. It's really quite a stunner. The voice, clarity and responsiveness is everything I expected and then some. What surprised me most is the amount of volume from the cedar top, and there's plenty of headroom for strumming without any bass side muddiness. A couple of months ago I began working with Drew to spec a new build, now I have the rare-ish opportunity to understand his style and make some better-informed design decisions.

Big thanks to @Mkel12 for a great transaction, and thanks as well to @Strumming (who originally designed this guitar with Drew) for answering a couple of questions for me.

Nice looking SJ congrats!!! Cedar and Cocobolo are a great combo for that size instrument!

That is just gorgeous. I have been telling myself that I "need" to have at least one guitar with a "modern" voice, and, surely, one of Drew builds is on that list. Wish you lots of happy times with your new friends.

Craig, congrats on the Heinonen! I've never heard of him before so I just spent the past few minutes on his website. Some wonderful guitars and he seems like a talented luthier.

How did you first hear of him?

Thanks Aimelie, I know the feeling LOL!!!!!!! It does sound so very nice, but now the quandry - do I need two modern sounding cedar-topped beauties?? Pfft, "need"....
