Bozo Acoustic
Here’s a 1992 Bozo custom acoustic guitar posted on Craigslist here in Colorado. This guitar is so fancy the guy never played it. Asking price is $7,500.
From the listing… “Before Bob Taylor, George Lowden, Bob Benedetto, John Gallagher, Jean Larrivee, Greg Smallman and Triggs. there was Bozo, "quietly" building his guitars in Chicago. One of the first "Boutique" guitar makers. This example was made in his Florida shop in 1992. It's a Small bell and 15 frets clear of the body. It's not top of line fancy, but close! It's in unplayed condition and was purchased as an investment. I was at his house in 2014 and showed him a photo of it and he stuck it above his workbench! It was his #464 guitar...Not many around, especially at this price. It's truly a work of art. THX!” https://denver.craigslist.org/msg/d/...427393223.html |

When it comes to highly ornamented acoustic guitars, a Bozo is tough to beat. Some of his 12 strings are also legendary.

That's quite the guitar!! I've never heard of Bozo -- I wonder how they sound?

It’s been quite a few years now, but I used to go to a guitar gathering and a guy would bring his Bozo 12 string. Very lush sounding without being muddy, as I recall. They have a presence both tonally as well as visually. Leo Kottke owned and played 3 of Bozo’s guitars custom made for him. Best, Jayne |
