Default Played some really good Guilds

Went to World Music yesterday and played some Guild GAD small bodies. (can't remember the exact numbers). They were rosewood back and sides. They sounded great!!!and played great...why are they so cheap?...and does anyone here have one of them and what do you think?

Really good lively guitars, built in China, hence the price.

Great value, and hard to beat.

Yep. Imported from the C and consequently you're paying pennies on the dollar for labor. If you like it, and you need it, buy it.

I bought a new GAD-G212 last year for a recording project. It was a great sounding guitar ... spruce/mahogany with rosewood bridge and fretboard. Unfortunately, not very desirable on the used market, and hard to sell. I'd have done better with a "Martinez" (D12x Martin).

I just photographed 6 USA Guilds for a Musicians Website. I'll post them when he aproves the images. They really are nice playing guitars. Wonderful tones.

I've had a GUILD GAD-30R for a while now. Nice guitar, very attractive with maple binding, nice fretboard inlays, I've got the action dialed in nicely, and with new strings, it sounds good. As others noted, it's made in China.

I had a GAD-30 and loved it. So, I figured if the Chinese-made Guild was that good, the US made must be even better. I sold the GAD and bought the closest US equivalent: the F-30 Aragon.

I was disappointed. The GAD-30 sounded better and was more comfortable to play.

Jim,

Wow, that's too bad... I have to say that my own experience with the "F" body Guilds has shown them to be uncomfortable to play, particularly in the seated position, and a little dark sounding.

Maybe you can get your hands on another GAD-30? Seems like there are a decent number of used ones around.

Regards, Glenn

That was the same assessment I had of the F-30.

Although every guitar I own is USA made, ride the Chinese labor while you can. The guys my age will remember when stuff made in Japan was junk and now we can't afford it!
