You can pick your friends but how about picks!!!
What kind of picks do you prefer and how do they affect the sound of your guitar??

Picks have a HUGE inpact on sound, more folks should experiment.
I use regular and Ultex Dunlops in .60, ,.72 and 1.1, like have 3 warm and 3 bright EQ presets. Try recording with a few different thicknesses, very noticeable changes. Picks are our friends!

I use red brain picks, from Snarling Dog's.... .73
Main reason? the grip... almost never drop them when playing... but, I would like to try others, mainly to get other sounds... but, I've never found any picks that grip like the brains...

Picks
What happens when you pick your friends nose with a Dunlop Ultex 1.14?
Usually the heavier the pick, the warmer the sound. I really dislike those flimsy light picks. Too clattery. (Is that word?)

It all depends on what I am playing and the mood I am in I use the snarling dog picks either green, red or black
usually the green ones because they are thin and I play quiter when the kids are in bed. most often I strum with the reds and if I need something for both strumming and picking riffs then I use the blacks. I also have a bag of these red dunlop Jazz III's I use if I just want to pick out some stuff were I am not going to strum. Each give its one distinct tone and play in its own way.

I too use the Ultex Dunlops (.73mm, 1.0mm, and 1.14mm). However lately I am really liking the sound I get from the RedBear Trading Co's Tortix (Heavy Classic with Speed bevel and Medium C with speed bevel). I really like the Medium, but the Heavy is nice fore picking.

Another shout out to the Red Bear picks. I just started using one a couple months ago and am very impressed with it. I like how it feels, how it plays, and the tone I get with it both strumming and picking. Mine's the "E" shape, 1mm.

From left to right: Fender medium for acoustic and electric strumming; Fender extra heavy, Pickboy Jazz (1.5mm) and Tortex Jazz (1.14mm) for...Jazz.

I use the Dunlop nylon and I like the 0.60mm thickness. Do you think I'd like the v-pick. All the reviews I read are great...however they are on the
manufacture website...
