Default Ovation "IDEA" Guitar

I've just heard about the new ovation "idea" guitar. It has a mp3 player/recorder built into the pre-amp. It's to be used as a tool for songwriters to capture an idea or used as a practice tool. Anyone seen or played one yet?

Interesting. I was just thinking of how handy that would have been for me over the years, especially after turning 40. So many times I've been noodling around & end up liking the sound of something I forget the next day. I've forgotten more music than I now know. Last week I decided to video stuff I want to remember with my digital camera, but I lost the instructions to it. Until I find it, I'm looking for a cheap cassette recorder, if they still make those. No more lost songs! Also happens with lyrics I think of when I don't have a pen & paper.

I played one of these at GC the other day. I didn't mess with the recorder or anything. But, it sounded so bad, (dull, thin, etc.) that I wouldn't want to record it. Cool idea, bad execution. I have a little iRiver mp3 player with a built in voice recorder that's perfect for grabbing ideas before they're gone. I was shocked the first time I played back a recording of my 414. It sounded REALLY good. The mic is very sensitive and picks up the full dynamic range of the guitar, plus some reverb from the room.
