GS Mini Born on Cinco de Mayo
NGD! Just picked up a new GS Mini today.
Was just thinking about the significance of born on dates and thought it was cool that my new GS was born on May 5th, in Mexico no less. At first I thought hey that's pretty cool and all. Assuming some locals are working at the Mexico plant, maybe a little extra pride and mojo went into the build that day making it just that much more special. Then again maybe someone was miffed that they had to work on a holiday and I will be cursed with bad technique and tone, but only on Cinco de Mayo. We'll see. Anyone purchase a Taylor with the born on date weighing somewhat in their decision? |

My GS Mini was born on 22nd March 2011... 17 days after my birthday.
Edit: I really like the grain of the spruce on yours very unique |

I lost my only Son on the 13th of October. My Mini was born on 10/13. I am certain a bit of his soul is in that Guitar.

Have you seen any signs of Tequila worms inside the body?

Mine was started on May 6th....SO, that means they all came back to work after Cinco de Mayo. Lets hope they weren't hung over!
As for other cool dates- My 314ce was made on my daughter's birthday and the "almost" cooler part was that it was the 15th guitar on that date- she turned 16 that day, so it was almost perfect.

Did'nt find any worms. However, I am thinking of possibly having a "Corona Extra bottle" inlaid TRC made, or maybe just a lime wedge.

Thanks. I don't know if that is what people are calling "bearclaw" or not?
It sort of has a random and sparse almost flamed maple look depending on how I angle it. |

I am saddened to hear about your son. Your's is a special Mini for sure. It is interesting you mention that particular date, 10/13. It is a date or number set that has been a big part of my life for the last 17 years. It happens to be my wife's birthday. She has a thing for numbers and if she had her way everything would have a 13 in it somehow. 13 is her lucky number go figure. The fascination with that number has extended into my life and I wear it on all of my hockey jerseys etc, etc. Anyway, since I have been looking at and purchasing Taylor guitars, one of the first things I look at is the born on date. It would seal the deal on a model if the date were 10/13. I would choose that over my own birthday if I had to tie break two models side by side. Still looking....... I am jealouse of my brother-in-law's 1990 Gibson J-200 that has the last four numbers of the serial 1013. Last edited by "Brown Sound"; 08-27-2011 at 03:22 PM. |

My 355 was born on Halloween. It looks like a 355 should look, no costume that I can see. Maybe a custom TRC would be cool for me too.

Mine was made May 18, 2011 which has some significance to me. May 18th is the day Mt St Helens blew. I had just got married a few weeks prior and happened to be golfing with my Dad when we heard it let loose. I visit the mountain often on my scooter.
