Default Calton Cases

Hi folks!
I am thinking of gettin' a Calton case for my J45 true vintage, 'cause I will be flying with it a lot.
Does anybody knows if I should measure it or do all J45's have the same dimensions?
Thanks

You should be able to order their standard J-45 case, and it will fit perfect.

Was there a reason you chose Calton? I've owned three but I feel my current arch top case by Hoffee is far superior in design than the Calton's I've owned. Same price. Might be worth a look.

Cincy - the "new" Caltons from Austin, TX are pretty rad cases. Have you seen one of those yet?

Have to agree with Jesse here! A pal of mine just ordered a new calton case for his custom guitar. The case arrived this month and I like the contours, case latches and overall look more than any of the older caltons I own. I think they really stepped up their game with the move to Austin.

+1 for Calton cases

I have a new one and it's one of the best cases I've owned. Much better than the older models.

Hoffee cases from what I hear tend to scratch easy and since they are so expensive, some owners buy a cover for their cases so they don't scratch.

Thanks for writing guys. Well I've seen some Calton cases and liked them a lot.
I just want the best protection for my guitar 'cause I fly a lot.
I can't find the price on Calton web page. So are you sure their standard J45 case would be a perfect fit?

Yes......The foam is pretty pliable.

I fit a J45 TV, a Walker 1939 J35 copy, a Rockbridge Advanced Jumbo copy, and a 1931 Martin D-28A in mine.

The only one I have to take a little effort with is the Martin, as it is a little bit different body shape than the Gibson Jumbo template.

If you're having doubts, call Calton, or one of their dealers, and ask.

Everywhere I find a Calton J45 case it says "for slope shoulder dreads"
And my true vintage is round shoulder.

In fairness to the new Calton, I have not seen or sampled any of their newest products. I love America because the free market keeps all competitors improving their offerings. I wish them luck.

Never had an issue with scratches on my Hoffee. Just ordered a second one.

Suggest you check out a Hiscox Pro II case. A lot of folks in this Forum love them just like me.

I take a nice dread with me a couple times/yr from San Francisco to London and back with other stops along the way. My Hiscox Pro II has seen some major hits yet remains unscratched and zero damage to the guitar inside.

Very lightweight, exceptionally strong, and "D" ring-equipped, Just hook on a soft golf strap and sling it over your shoulder to free up both hands!

If I recall correctly you were asking about your recently acquired Hiscox case on a recent thread. Not sure why you would want to change so soon...

You might find this thread that links to an article on Hiscox cases interesting:

I just traveled from LA to Australia with my new guitar in a Mainstage case and a Colorado soft cover. Mainstage make a really fine case, very similar to the Caltons. The Colorado cover shows up all the scuff marks that came with the trip and I am really grateful I had it.

That said, my Hoffee case (on another guitar) is also fantastic, and it feels a lot lighter than the Mainstage or my older Calton. If weight is an issue for you, check out the Hoffees.
