What are you using for a slide
I bought a slide [for round neck guitar] . It was a Mudslide. It was in a package when I bought so didn't try it till I got home.It almost gets stuck on my pinky ,way too tight. Anyway it rolled of the table a few nights ago and cracked. Need a new one now . what do you use? Thanks.

I just got a brass "Rock Slide" which I bought online from Long and McQuade which is a CDN company. I have fairly large hands and it fits my pinky perfectly. The only way you could damage it is to beat it with a hammer.

Bluenose with a great answer as usual. I use the glass Rock Slide (medium, I think), and it's by far the best I've tried. Been using it for years now and have had no need to look for another. Be it electric, acoustic, or resonator, it produces a natural tone that just works for everything. But more than that, it's the comfortable fit that I love most about it.

Measure your finger.
Find out the circumference of your preferred slide finger!
Fingers and Many slides come in varying sizes! If a slide is too big, you can put some gaff tape or moleskin inside. If it is too small, bummer. I LOVE the Dunlop 284 Eric Sardinias radiused brass and use it on my pinky. They come in other sizes. https://www.jimdunlop.com/eric-sardi...-medium-slide/ Cheaper online…. Fortunately slides are relatively inexpensive. Sure easier than changing strings, too! Have fun experimenting Paul

Regular old brass slide from "Guitarget" on various acoustics with 11s. Might be imagining this, but it seems to sound better than the same exact slide they sell with chrome plating. I put a brushed "satin" finish on mine with a wire wheel.
There are several accounts of Duane Allman's first exposure to slide guitar. If memory serves, his brother Gregg gave him a bottle of Coricidin for his birthday because he was shut in with a cold, and a week later he was a monster. |

Are you wearing it on your ring finger?
What finger?
Here it is at Sam Ash, better deal. https://www.samash.com/dunlop-284-pr...dium-d284xxxxx I am sold on pinky, but I play solo in open D…. I read that Duane didn’t come out of the house for about three weeks, and when he did he was determined to play slide. At first the band was less than pleased, but he got better real fast. Not in a week, though…. This stuff takes a lot of practice. Have fun Paul

The very best : Diamond Bottlenecks.
Look them up. To measure your finger size, a jeweller would have a ring size template guage. BluesKing777. |

I like glass. I have a real bottle neck slide and I also bought an inexpensive Fender cylindrical glass slide from Sweetwater that works well.

I've used a dunlop stainless for 40 years , recently I was gifted a Rich Robinson signature from D'Addario , it's tapered internally and is massively heavy , Iuse it only on my 12 string ..sounds great

I only dabble in a little slide, but I like my Dunlop 228, a heavy chromed brass job that's only just wide enough to cover the strings. I tried a few, and it seems like for me, a heavy slide played with fairly light pressure was the easiest way to get a decent sustaining slide tone with a general medium low action setup.

As you'll see from the pics below - i've been through a few.
An uncle of mine who worked at Heathrow airport made some for me from some ridiculously high quality steel reserved for Boeing wings! I did the broken bottleneck thing - never really worked for me. I have friends that specialise in bottleneck blues and who buy every new offering and often give/sell/swap them to me. I had a Diamond bottleneck made for me - Blue Diamond, great service great guys, but for the last few years, I've reverted to steel, and/or brass. I have found that I need weight -110-130 grammes , a full 58-60 m/m length (so you can isolate single notes - I never chord with my slides), and I always insert a leather sleeve at the fingertip end -for accuracy, security, and sensitivity. Currently , my slide of choice is a plain ol' Dunlop 224 brass - leather sleeved of course. If you have 18 minutes to waste - here are my thounghts from three years ago :
