Default string choice on my Gibson L-OO

I use GHS thin core 12-52 on this guitar. It sounds fine but wondering about other choices , something maybe a little mellower. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Martin Monels are great on mahogany guitars. They do take about 10 days to mellow and then they’ll last for 6 months.

I agree with blindboy, Martin Retros are a good choice.
For what it's worth, I tried the GHS Thin Cores 12-52 and found them thin sounding and they didn't drive the soundboard of my Martin 000-1. They felt great but didn't work for me.

I love GHS Silk and Bronze Med Lights (12-54) on my L-00. Nothing else I've tried has come close.

My fallback string (meaning I forgot to order Newtones) on my L1 are GHS Thin Cores. I am not crazy about them but I can buy them literally five minutes down the road and they are a necessity as my guitar clocks in at a weight somewhere between 3/4 to a full pound less than your L00.

The above post has put an idea in my head. I need to go and revisit the John Pearce PB Bronze and silk strings. They sounded good, were easy on my old fingers and best of all stayed responsive longer than about any other silk and steel set I have gotten my hands on.

I too own an L-00. I use Martin lifespan12-54. Sometimes I find that low E a little too thick, but they sound nice and last a lot.

I recently bought a Collings C10-35 which is similar to the L-00 of the mid 30's. It came strung with D'Addario EJ-16's. I did not care for these so I put on Thomastik-Infeld Plectrum 11-50's. They took a few days to settle in and now the tone is very warm, mellow, dry and loud. I like them a lot.

I had previously used these on my Huss and Dalton 000 12 fret adi/hog and they lasted 6 months.

Interesting, so you went with thinner strings and like the sound more? Did it get easier to play?

Yes, I prefer the sound of the 11-50 TI Plectrum strings over the 12-53 D'A EJ-16's and yes the lighter strings are easier to play.
YMMV
