Default Taylor 400 series from 2000

Hello folks,

I'm fancying an 412ce from 2000 but I'm not sure if this was a good particular year.
Could you tell me your experience, please?

Warm thanks!

My first Taylor was a 414ce from 2001. I sold it and have regretted it ever since. Great playing/sounding.

My experience would tell me it was still likely a good guitar - 2001 brought lots of changes.

Thanks for the prompt response!
Based on the photos, this 412ce is shallower than the current GC models. I'm not sure about the scale length and the string spacing at the bridge.

It would be 25.5 and 2 3/16

That change came much later than 2000.....probably 10-12 years ago or so.

I own a '97 412ce and used it as my go-to for many years, plays like a dream. When I had to switch to nylon strings, I couldn't let it go so I put nylons on it. Even did a video with that set-up:

Hope that helps, I don't think you'd go wrong with an old 412ce.

Default 400 series

If it’s before the design change they were fantastic guitars. I’m talking about the changeover to the NT neck.

Nothing against the NT neck system, but they made other changes at the same time and the guitars made in the 90’s were fantastic guitars. Slimmer necks and just a much better sound, IMHO.
