Default A new Flammang 12 coming my way.....

....and it matches the 6 string he made me!

It's just having the saddle and nut done, and should get shipped on Monday..............I can wait while I'm painting my atrium..........

It will be so nice to have a 12 string that fits comfortably under my arm!

Patiently,
HE

Howard...I have to ask the inevitable!

Scale length?

Looks like a beauty, and David Flammang is *such* a great builder...congrats!

Hi Larry,
How've you been? Hope you're feeling well and working.

It's a 32" scale. This way nobody will bother asking me to play it.............

It's a 25.4" like the Guild I'm selling. I tune it down to C# and then to 'dropped D', with heavies, so it feels really good and doesn't flop around too much.

My main reason for this guitar was to have a shallow body that felt good under my right arm. Being 3 & 7/8" at the tail block, like the 6 string he built me, will make it feel very comfortable.

The pictures were taken while it was just being set up, hence the very tall saddle. I believe it will ship on Monday.........Of course I'll post my impressions soon thereafter.

Be well,
HE

Hi Tom,
Those are the Stew-Mac Golden Age Restoration for slot head 12 string, but I also bought 2 sets of the 6 string solid headstock units. I swapped the posts out, used the ferrules that came with the 6 string sets, and now I'm left with 2 sets of slot-head 6 string Golden Age Restoration tuners........

The posts on the solid headstock units are nicely rounded, but they don't make a solid headstock 12 string set, hence all the extra work...........

Life is filled with challenges...

Just played in upstate NY for the final tour of '11, and hoping for less wrist tendonitis (and inflammation in general) for '12!

Sounds like a good set-up...for you!

The full-scale would kill me, of course. I like the shallow-body-thing...always gets good and fast projection.

Keep 'er steady...

Quite an interesting guitar! I wonder if this is the first Flammang 12 string?
Congratulations, Mark.

Hi Mark,
I've been busy painting............

I spoke with David this afternoon and this is actually his 2nd 12 string. He has a 3rd one in the spray booth right now.

The first one is owned by Tripp Wyeth over at Acousticmusic.org.

Best,
Howard

Thanks Howard.

I love Flammang guitars, and this one is really giving me GAS....

I'd be really interested to hear about the bracing and other build characteristics and inspirations that went into this one, string spacings etc. Also, did you request certain tone qualities such as sustain, or lack thereof, fundamental emphasis vs. overtones?

I fingerpick 12 strings and, as I'm sure you know, it is very difficult indeed to find a good one at a reasonable cost.

I hope you love the one you get, and look forward to hearing Maybellene on it!

Regards, Mark.
