No, the airplane guitar is a MiniMac body.

Thanks for all of the positive and kind comments. Still looking for more feedback on the gearhead if anyone else wants to chime in? Please don't be afraid to share your dislikes as well. That's the only way that I can learn what folks dislike so don't be shy.

Very cool and different.. Black Walnut is cool too. I have a few trees on my farmland acreage in Northern N.J.

Dislikes?!? That you wouldn't let me take it home without paying for it...

Nope, just a stunning guitar. I'm convinced I'll have you building me a red spruce Skeeter down the road. The tone was simply jaw-dropping.

Dear Kurt,
Will this be put in writing?

Hey there, Lefty...

Yep. You can get it in writing. But all in good time; it's taken a couple years for that cedar-top to develop, ya know!

But that little Skeeter is simply amazing -- and I can't believe how comfortable it was to hold. I could've played that guitar all day long. Simply a marvelous piece of work, from tone to design. And now here I am, feel guilty about wishing that maybe, just maybe, you two didn't sell it in Montreal!

I loved the tone and playability of the Gear Guitar. When you announced the name I had visions of a Swiss Army Knife motif. I dunno about the "Face" but that is what will make it the "soulmate of the buyer". The jury is out on the Fan frets but I believe players of greater skill when they say they think its better/easier.
My hands down favorite is the Airplane. Tone wise. The inlay is exquisite. I was emailing backnforth with the new owner of my beloved OMD. We and a couple others all independently picked the Airplane as the favorite out of what???12 -18 McKnights? All agreeing the beautiful inlay would stop the idea of us owning her. But, again you will find some retired Air force pilot that the airplane will bring tears to.
Yamaha builds a guitar for the masses. You and Mary build the guitar for "the Person" Whether custom ordered or Spec. The spec guitars find their mates. I was happy happy with my OMD. My shoulder went south on deep guitars. Thanks for the help placing her in good hands and I look so forward to the "Dark Knight" on order.
Tim, you and Lefty are the goods!

We only planned to show guitars there.

I have a picture of Jacques-Andre' Dupont playing it. It's HIS sow and he can play ANYTHING he wants to.

I'm glad he took a few minutes to play this goofy looking thing.

Yes I CAN!

And it sounded great! Even in this noisy environment... Looks awesome as well and is very confortable... All a guitar should be!

Congrats Mary and Tim!

It was a pleasure to play this guitar at the show. It truly surprised me! It had been a while since I had played one of Tim's guitars, and this little guitar had a huge tone!

Thank you for stopping by the booth, Mike. I wish I would have taken more pictures of our AGF friends.

Next time remind me.

Guess the title says it!

And I love the Gearhead. Just wish I could hear because, owning a McKNight 12 string, I know what tone Tim creates.

Drop dead gorgeous. I love the color scheme of the woods used for the gears. They really look beautiful with the bright hue of the adi top.

The only thing that's off-putting for me is the contour outline of the head on the headstock. It makes the headstock look a bit cluttered, in my opinion. I think the concept of "gear head" still works without the literal head drawing. Gear head-stock, perhaps?
