Default Please recommend guitar repair shop in NJ.

I'm looking for a repair shop for pickup installation and other setup..!

I'm currently considering between "Guitar Bar(Hoboken)" and "Lark Street Music(Teaneck)".
Could you recommend one?

Thanks!!

Lark Street is a great shop—very knowledgeable folks. I believe that Ian Davlin is head of the service department there. If you look up Ian, you’ll see that he is one of the area’s (and probably the country’s) top luthiers/repair people.

I go to Russo Music in Asbury. There is another in Hamilton.

Eric and Pat are the two techs. Good dudes. Eric has been around the block and is pretty good at more advanced work too.

I have to go Saturday to pick up my Tele, which got new pickups.

The shop is an absolute guitar Mecca as well. And great places for lunch all right there.

Anthony (Tony) Marchitelli / Majestic Guitars. He does tons of restorations, his own builds, finishing & refinishing, and tech work. He worked for years at Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island and then went on his own reclaiming his grandfather’s company… Majestic Banjos and Guitars.

I have trusted Anthony with several prized instruments both electric and acoustic. He’s done a lot of re-fretting for me and set up work on acoustics and electrics. Anthony restored an early 1900’s AC Fairbanks “bowl back” mandolin for me… and this thing was a wreck. I’ve seen what he can do with other people’s instruments as well, really tricky stuff. He builds guitars on commission as well.

Oh yeah… he also does basket case work for some big name shops. And if all that isn’t enough, Tony is a really nice guy who is honest, reasonable, and fair. Link below.

I'll add one, Curt re-fretted my #1 tele (did a great job), I know he's done work for "famous" people as well...

He does repairs, restorations, his own builds, he's got a spray booth, a complete shop. I think he does more hollowbody work/repairs than alot of people (I know him through the now-defunct Gretsch Discussion Pages).

Dilver... give Tony a try when you need some work done, you'll be glad you did.
