That spruce top has a really interesting, textured look. Congrats on your purchase, and welcome to the 2012 D-18 club! We're a happy bunch.

I have to admit, I was on the hunt for a mahogany guitar and almost took another new D18 home a few weeks earlier. This one picked me and I couldn't say no.

So what kind of tuner did you end up with? {besides the Martin tuner!}
Sadly, the moment I walk into a guitar shop, I know I've already gone too far.

So did you check out the Petrerson? I've had a VS-1 for a few years now, nothing better to set or check intonation.

Way to go on the new guitar!

Yeah I ended up getting it. I don't have alot of tuner experience, I used the same old tuner a guy gave me when I first started playing a few years ago. Being able to clip one on the guitar and being this accurate was a no-brainer for me. I was due for an upgrade.

My last 2 pics show it on the guitar and I gave a mini review in post #14 of this thread.

Congratulations on a great new Martin! In fact, you have a terrific pair of Martins there! I'm glad you got the tuner, too!

Default So I walk into the guitar store...

Wow, most beautiful top I've seen on one! I know how they play too, so there was no hope for resistance. Congrats!
That D28 is no slouch either. Love the smoldering burst!

Beautiful guitar with a beautiful top. I love the venerable D-18.

Unfortunately, where I live, I can enter the acoustic room of any shop without running the risk of GAS. The selection changes at a glacial pace, and each store rep I asked about the New D-18 gave me a blank stare. "The new D-18? Is that any different from the old D-18? No, I don't think we'll get any of those any time soon."

Grrrrrr....
