As numerous posters have already noted, the final "e" is not silent. It is properly pronounced "aba-loh-nee."
My mother, an artist by profession and thus someone who knows her material, corrected me on this back when I first started showing serious interest in guitar.

Yes, having grown up on the Pacific coast where friends of mine regularly went diving for these creatures -- not to mention everyone having a shell as a soap dish -- I never imagined there would be uncertainty on the pronunciation.

Then again, you say Carmel (IN), I say Carmel (CA).

This is nearly as bad as people disagreeing on how to pronounce "salmon". Me, I just eat it.

Rhymes with alimony.

Can't quite decide where the break between the 1st and 2nd syllable is though.
Syllabic breaks always put the consonant at the start of the next syllable (if there is only one consonant), so your second iteration is the correct one [emoji16]

Abalone comes from Spanish "abulón." "Abulón" is pronounced like "ah-boo-LAWN."

How is it possible to do three pages on this? I suppose it could change depending on location, but if you're online you have access to the Google machine, which is happy to provide the pronunciation of just about anything.

We've got serious work to do here. The time you've wasted on this could have been spent debating the differing vibrational energy of bridge pin materials!

I live in Colorado, near the headwaters of the Arkansas River. That's "AR-kan-saw."

As soon as this river crosses into the state of Kansas, it becomes the "ar-KANSAS" River.

At least to them flatlanders down there, anyways.
