Has anyone played a doerr with and without the bevels? I am still undecided on the bevels. I like the look of they, but they are a bit uncomfortable and foreign to me... I know they change the sound a bit, but I am still undecided...

I've played Doerr's with and without bevels. Both are great. It's a great feature and if you can swing it, I think it'd be good call.... Very comfortable.

Congrats again!

Kindly,
Danny

Did you notice any different in sound? I would actually prefer not to have one, but if the sound is a major difference between with and without I might get one..

Gotta have more than one if you ask me.... One with a beval and one without... That's what I'm doing... Different vibes and styles that are both equally appealing to me....

Hi,

I researched for about 18 months before selecting Tom Doerr for my first custom built. He is a great guy and we have become friends since the past 1 year that i have been in contact with him.

Regarding the bevels, that's a great option as it allows him to brace the guitar in a different way and i have been told that the guitar is comfortable despite it's size.

In my case i cannot afford the charge for the bevel though i would have liked to have it.

Best,

Keyshore

Just an update on the dimensions of the Solace:

16.25" width on lower bout

With the Manzer Body Wedge:
4" depth on bass side of lower bout
4.5" depth on end wedge (center depth)
~5" on treble side of lower bout

This is gonna be pretty cool with so much room in the box.

Really interesting! After talking with tom I have decided not to choose between the legacy and the solace until my building time approaches and he gets a few more solaces under his belt I am thinking either legacy with bevels or solace sans bevels at this point.

Without bevel would be his legacy (Lowerbout at 15.5) and Jumbo size?
I only owned a doerr legacy but it was one of the best that I have played.

It's true, the best is to get one of each model......

There are a few ABW solace around now. Tom is impressed with ABW
and has been enjoying building them.

Actually, to own any of his guitars is really great choice already.
