Default What do you think of this 815ce?

I've been in the hunt for a jumbo body Taylor. I've been teeter-tottering between the 615ce and the 815ce. The general use of the guitar will be live performance in a church setting. I REALLY like the tobacco sunburst finish on the 615ce, but I came across this 815ce on eBay the other day. Please take a look at it and let me know if you think it's a deal. Thanks.

P.S. ~ What are your thoughts on comparison between the 615 and 815? I know the 615 is maple and the 815 is rosewood, but both have a spruce top. What's the difference in sound production between maple and rosewood. Which is more durable? Thanks.

P.S.S. ~ I'm in a bit of a hurry to get a guitar and I'll have to order anything from my local shop. It could take 60-90 days to get it in.

Thumbs up

I think a jumbo 800 would fit your performance at church. Also check Market Place Discussion. You may find a great deal there.

Remember that this won't have the ES. If you're playing plugged in often, you may want to wait for that.

I'm a little bit new to Taylors. What's "the ES"? Thanks.

"ES" is the Taylor "Expression System", the electronics. You can find out more info here: http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars...ectronics.html

the ES is the newest and best pickup for acoustic guitar around. it sounds the best and doesn't put a big hole in the side of your guitar, just three small knobs right above the neck joint. heres a link. Taylor Expression System

Like Hondo says if it is a 2003 it will, AND of course it has to be a CE or an E model, too!

I didn't see on this auction whether it is a 2002 or 2003 model. Taylor redesigned the bracing on the x10/x15 models in 2003, increasing the overall volume/projection of the guitar. I would ask the guy, if it is a 2003, you may want to look for a new one instead of buying this one as listed(tactul two-step around the price), especially with the lack of electronics. I bought a new 815ces recently, email me if you want to know what I paid..
