One can state their opinion on a matter without "talking down" to anyone. But that is the society we live in; conditioned to believe that those who don't agree with you are somehow against you. Its sad.

I also named one guitar back in that day. But I sold "Linda" when she met Moonbeam.

Me either…usually. A while back I drove a Mustang, sold her about eight years ago. I still miss Sally.

Heck yeah I name my guitars.

If you don't name your guitars, what do you put on top of their birthday cakes? "Happy Birthday Inanimate Object"?

If you don't name your guitars, how do they know which one is going to practice with you? Do you say "Today I'm going to take you, inanimate guitar, to the rehearsal". Then when you leave the room, they immediately look at each other and say "Did he mean me?? Did he mean you?!?"

If you don't name your guitars, what do you name your bluegrass combo???!!?? My band from the 1970s, "Jesse and Silas", would have been "Inanimate Tools 1 and 2".

Sheeeeeeze!!!!!!!!!

My daughters name everything!

I have never named "things" and I it's hard to almost impossible for me to start.

I was told by a buddy, "YOU HAVE TO NAME THIS GUITAR!" He literally screamed that! lol

I tried, but I just can't seem to bring myself to call it anything other than my Larrivee L-03 Custom.

I must admit though, I do have nicknames that I sometimes refer to my guitars as. For example, I sometimes affectionately refer to my Eastman as "The Beastman" and my Martin DRS1 as "The big red dread". But naming a car or a guitar after a women seems very silly to me. I've had enough guitars, cars, and woman to know that a guitar or a car is never a suitable substitute for a good woman. My car does what I ask of it. My guitar does what I ask of it. My woman does what she thinks is best for me.

No.

(These are additional useless and annoying characters because AGF has a minimum 10-charcter rule.)

Not giving them child-status (or perhaps more serious) doesn't indicate to us any less importance nor inclusion in the life of our family.

And for the record, dman, I'm not being snobbish, just reporting what happens at our house. If you want to give your instruments names, it's fine by me.

Larry I wasn't talking about your post I did even see it until after I posted mine. It was a generalization about what happens every time someone posts this question and I apologize if it was taken wrong.
