YES! Redwood is a "magic" soundboard wood. Very toneful! Several people at Taylorstock opted for this wood, and I've never heard anything but glowing reviews. I have two redwood-topped guitars myself, they are the best guitars I've ever picked up! I am convinced that this is the tonewood of the future. It has much of the projection of spruce as well as the warmth and sparkle of cedar, but doesn't overdrive like cedar. You can play it hard and it doesn't thin out. I hope that demand for this wood increases so the tonewood suppliers start harvesting it in quantities. Right now, there is just nothing out there except for odds and ends. Bob has a small stash reserved for custom shop instruments, but says that it's just not available in quantities. The figured stuff is REALLY rare!

I still remember Bob Taylor at Taylorstock taking the redwood tops and "clinking" them together! He was so entertained by that, he wanted everyone to hear it. It made a marimba-like sound.

I've played TBondo's (TS) Redwood/Rosewood, and tell you what -- if (well, actually when) I get an opportunity to have my Taylor built, It's gonna have a Redwood top! Muy Bueno!!!

oh well. An auction pretty much relegates the guitar to two or three people, but hopefully they bid each other up high enough to make some $$ for the forum.
