A decent frame can make or break a picture:

I went looking for Koa today, just to get a sense of the current value of this 6 piece set . . . that I am including w/o an uncharge. I found very few sets as pretty, and none as straight, clear, and quartered with consistent figure, though I have to imagine they are out there somewhere or I couldn't have gotten this one. My replacement cost looks like middle teens $$, and standard retail thinking would put this set around $3k! Looks like I may not be such a good businessman.

I made the all-Koa’s neck yesterday and today, and will put some finish on tomorrow. There will be pictures.

I am pleased with the color match between the Mahogany neck and the Koa body!

Thank you for the kind words, Folks!

Here is an hour long video of a concert at Schoenberg Guitars wherein Larry Clyman and I play the 18 or so guitars my customers brought for the purpose. I think the sound is better than the video quality . . . I sure hope so. I dated this 2016 on Vimeo, but I now think it was 2010 at the latest, possibly a couple of years earlier.

The Video

I am having some trouble embedding, so I have no idea if this is working.

Thank you Bruce, that was fun. Well at least half of it, have no time to watch right now and will catch the rest as the supper time entertainment. How I would have loved to be in the room.

At that time, Schoenberg’s shop seated 35, and it was full, as I recall. I build a JB-15-WRX in Pernambuco for Larry. He and I spent a lot time publicly discussing it right here on the AGF. There is a copy of of that conversation still on the “News Page” of my website. I haven’t heard from him in some time.

Larry Clyman writes very well, and the post Bruce references above is a great read. He wrote another engaging story about beginning his search for his first custom build (that ended with a Sexauer), his pilgrimage to Schoenberg's, and visit with Ervin Somogyi. I couldn't get the link embedded in Bruce's news page to work, so here are direct links to both threads. Well worth reading when you have a bit of time to spare.
