Halcyon guitars give you your best bang for your buck in a custom build without being a "budget" guitar. From there, Godin is next.

These days, there are a plethora of good budget guitars.
So how to choose ? Well, what is available locally and so you can evaluate. I stumbled upon two interesting brands/lines these last 4 years : the Gretsch Roots line (I bought three of them resonators), and the new german Sigma brand (I have two of them Martin repros). Definitely fine guitars for a price that makes your wallet smile. Strangely, I don't like the Godin brand, although, living in Quebec, I tried them all, they are just everywhere. (they even gave me a top of the line Seagull when I won the Montreal Guitar Grand Prix, and I sold it as soon as I could. Fine guitar BTW, I just didn't like it) |
