Congrats! I recall these and played them when they were hanging on music shop walls. At the time though I was playing a 1956 Southerner Jumbo which I was overjoyed with.

I believe your SJ was built the first year the TV line was available being the replacement for the earlier Historic Collection line.

But you are spot on about the guitar not being an accurate reproduction. Bozeman never intended these to be dead bang copies of guitars from a past catalog. So despite the Banner logo you get a hodgepodge of later features such as the bound fingerboard, large pointy pickguard and 20 frets along with Bozeman's AJ pattern bracing, standard nut width and such.

Awesome! Love that fretboard. Had a Woody Guthrie SJ but foolishly sold it.

absolutely beautiful guitar!

on those bridge pins, check to see if Elderly has a set of "Antique Acoustic brand" pins and i guarantee you will be highly pleased. they are made in Germany and not sure about now, but years ago the folks used the same material that Gibson used back in the 30's for pins. there will be different taper angles and sizes so be sure to research what fits your bridge. in person they are not "new" white but look aged just like vintage/faux aged binding. every time i did a rehab/restore and used these folks were floored with the look, fit and vibe.

if Elderly no longer has them in stock, maybe some research will yield contact to the original maker and you could get them direct?

for a while Elderly was sold out, but just looking they appear to have some available:

Congrats. I own a J45-TV now, and one time owned an SJTV hide glue model. Lifer guitars. Play with health!

Oh, what do I think of these models? They are light, airy, crisp, thump, and if I could own only one guitar it would be these True Vintage slopes.

I had a Gibson SJ for several years - it's voiced perfectly to accompany a vocalist, it just has such a nice tiny bit mid-forward overall voice that makes ears happy. Enjoy it

Thanks for the heads up.
When I checked the Elderly site, they were out of stock (although now they appear to be back in), so I bought some bone pins from a local shop.
I might order a set of Antique Acoustics as well.

If you want those new bone pins to look a little more 'aged' just put them in a cup of water with a few tea-bags for an hour or two. Here's where I did the pins first and a shot after I also did the bone saddle to match.

Good idea.
