I got my Dread Jr for MF; $500 minus 15% which they seem to always have lately $425, then I used $40 worth on points; now it's $385 and I got back $38 more points.

Great little guitar. It feels like an 00 that sits a little higher on my lap. I could easily be happy with just two Dread Jr's, one spruce and one sapele.

Default So I got to try

A few of the Alvarez Artist series out today. Leaning that direction due to the neck shape and great action straight from the factory.

Actually I've measured exactly 1.5" string-to-string spacing on 1.8" Seagulls and several 1.75" Taylor and Rainsong guitars. The Seagull leaves a little extra room at the fret board edges, but it isn't the sub-1.5" total spacing that goes with 1-11/16" (1.69") nut widths. As was previously answered, the "Slim" models of Seagull refers to their 1.72" nut width instead of 1.8". I don't know about the neck depth or shape otherwise.

You can always try a capo on the first fret. That puts you into a slightly wider part of the neck and for a 25.5" scale, yields just over 24.2" scale length. Tuning down by a half step to get back to concert pitch also reduces string tension.

Ended up snagging one of these on sale - https://www.guitarcenter.com/Alvarez...tric-Guitar.gc

Interested to see how it sounds compared to the spruce topped version. Thanks again for the advice.

Good looking burst. I like the shadowburst a bit better than the vintage burst myself, but I think you will be pleased. These have scalloped braces and are nicely responsive for a mahogany top.

Ya I like the shadow burst a bit better myself but not $100 better. My ovation is plenty bright and chimey so I think the mahogany will be a nice change, more mid production.
