Decision made
Well thanks to all of you.
I made up my mind and made an offer that was accepted and my new/used Breedlove will ship from Oregon today. It's a 1999 Breedlove SC 20 Claro Walnut back and sides. It's got all of the early innovations that Steve Henderson had been working on since the mid 90's; asymmetrical bridge, tapered headstock, JDL truss bridge, tapered thickness top. I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to the end of the week when it arrives. I'll do a NGD when I get the guitar, but for you folks as my thanks to you I'm linking a video of this very guitar that was made a few years ago and hosted on YouTube Thanks for your help and knowledge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJu6V5htMG4

Walnuts are yum
This. This is gold.
This weekend or next I will be putting my hands on (for 2nd time) an Adirondack spruce top + Claro walnut back/sides OM style guitar built by Frank Finnochio in Easton, PA. Arch backed body = no bracing (proprietary, and WILD). This tasty perspective is what I needed! It has already been played in a few years by a man too large for a smaller body guitar. He gave it back to Frank and I have to decide whether I am its next, and hopefully final, owner.

I've had two walnut guitars - both Go Guitars Walnut Grandes built by Sam Radding in San Diego. I still have the second. Even though its place as the go-to travel guitar has been superseded by a Carbon Fiber Journey Overhead, I can't get rid of it because the tone is so utterly divine - if not overpowering. I'm really sorry I didn't get one of the Gibson J-15s when they were made, because every single one I played was superlative. I just wasn't into big guitars at that time.

If you were nuts on the wall, you’d be walnuts.

Wade is right about Claro and Black. More Claro guitars are made than Black, though Black is closing the gap in recent years. I always attributed this to the fact that it is easier to get a beautiful set of Claro than Black. And if you want something that visually outshines Claro, try Bastogne Walnut.

Two years ago, I bought a new Larrivee LSV guitar with a moonwood spruce top, walnut back and sides, Venetian cutaway and Anthem Dual Source pickup. This guitar also has a 12 fret neck with a 25.5 inch scale and is nice paired with my 12 fret, 000 short scale spruce over mahogany 12 fret and my 14 fret OM with spruce over rosewood.
