For $20, you really can't go wrong. Basically if it's structurally sound just buy it as a beater. I have a cheaper guitar myself that I like playing as well. My Harmony was under $100, it's beat up and everything, but real fun to play. I think you should buy it for that small amount of money before someone else does.

We will from now on, wise guy.

Japanese and Korean companies are like Sears was 100 years ago. They make everything. Yamaha and Suzuki are no different. Fuji Heavy Industries makes Subarus, helicopters and garbage trucks, among other things.

Martin Guitars makes a stunning line of women's footwear in wide sizes (E-EEEEE).

I lied about that last part.

I have two friends of mine who both have had the same Suzuki guitar for over 30 years. They both sound great. I know one is a Suzuki J200 Jumbo but I'm not sure of the model of the other one - it's a dred. For 20 bucks you can't go wrong either way.

My 1948 Suzuki....

My 1950 Kiso Suzuki...

I have a few others, some lower ends but one other nylon string looks to be all solid wood like the two above and the hand made hand written washi label reads special according to my wife who can read it. Special how? don`t know, but it is much better quality than the other diamond cut bracing models I have. Like so many other Japanese builders, they made all kinds of guitars for all levels of players and since I have one that is dated 1948 on the label, safe to assume they`d been doing it for decades. They have been linked to other brands as well, and not too far fetched when comparing characteristics of those brands to Suzukis of the day.

My Suzuki beater circa 1970, would be a good pickup for $20 I think

Yes, this one, what a stunning guitar ... blingy but classy, one could think it's from the 30ies, especially the holes.

I really wonder how it sounds .... cedar/rosewood ? or what ...

The 1950`s Suzuki pictured above is dated on the label as is the `48...got the `50 in an antiques shop...the others I own are not dated so hard to say precisely when they were made...`60/`70s would be my guess based on others I have from that period.

There were at least two Suzuki`s building stringed instruments...one made violins, see them on line sometimes in Japan. The Suzuki guitars changed labels a lot...I have seen at least 10/12 different types here, none of the labels on any of my Suzukis appear in that linked site posted by a member in this thread. But nothing new about that, I have quite a few MIJ acoustics that I can`t find any info on. C`est la vie.

My father-in-law gave me a Nagoya-built Suzuki classical from (I think) the 70s. All laminate construction BUT lighly built and sounds great to my ears. Nice full tone. Definitely built with some care and expertise.

No brainer for $20.
