Yeah but if you attach a ToneRite to it for 6 weeks the sinker will surely open up and you will have a turntable that is comparable with turntables costing $5000+

Surely Martin could have thought of something better and even more financially extortionate to use the precious sinker mahogany on, perhaps little wooden pick/accessory holders with the Martin logo on for say $300-500 a pop? Make it a ‘strictly Limited edition’ (worldwide) to make people think they are missing out if they don’t grab one and then the cost issue just melts away.

Martin's already proven that anything with their logo on it will sell.

Visit their 'Gear & Accessories' shop: mugs, plush toys, water bottles, wire cutters, key chains, every kind of apparel (thong underwear by special order?), face masks, luggage tags, cigarette lighters(!), even Christmas ornaments.

Whatever's next won't surprise me. And given how hard-core Martin fans are, they'll probably sell a bunch of them.

Ah yes! Martin decides to go the route that Gibson, Fender and Harley are going - become a lifestyle brand!

In my mind (which is a graveyard of worthless opinions) Martin has abdicated the throne of a grand old American heritage family company, to that of a typical, modern, stroke the profits for quarterly reports kinda logo-centric corporation. Its ok to promote your brand…just not at the cost of quality fundamentals and customer care.

It will make your vinyl sound better!!! Yes, Martin is a lifestyle brand. I rather spend my money on a guitar.

They sell lots of stuff with their name on iticks, mugs, shirts, straps, caps, etc. One more thing doesn't surprise me.

I love Martin guitars, but I don't have any interest in a single Martin accessory.

Guess I’ll hold out for the 42 model with the abalone and gold to match my git. Oh and yes, as previously stated, with torrefied Brazilian, but with nitro not the wax job.

A lot of energy being put into disliking Martin here these days.

You don’t have to buy this nor post about it

Martin is starting down the path that Henry took Gibson in the 1990s when they tried to morph from a guitar builder into something else….

Well, why not?

Heck I love turntables and records. I grew up in the cassette tape days, but I do love my records.

Sinker mahogany? Really? LOL

If Martin was knocking it out of the park in the core business model of building and selling high quality acoustic guitars, this would just be a novelty. But given their inability to get in front of their QC issues on the binding, as an example, doing things like this turntable shows a management team that is not focused on fixing issues within their core business units. Martin needs to refocus. Just build great guitars.
