I bought my son a new Martin Djr ($5-600) several years ago and wanted to just keep it for myself, played and sounded really good true! lol... later went on and bought myself a new dealer custom ordered Martin 15 something for about $2200 and couldn't return it quick enough, liked nothing about it.

Ah yea I got it at USD$709. Yesterday, I managed to salvage the original pickguard by cleaning the sticky residue using naptha. Perhaps sometime in the future, i should be able to stick it back on.

that's great, I really dislike the stock pick up.
Doing a pickup upgrade would be on my list.

I don't think they will be earning much from this model given the upgrades. It's a blessing to get a great guitar, spec wise, given the price. Applying a toner itself would significantly increase the production cost.

Perhaps this may be a service to entice the younger generation to Martin guitars
