I think I better stay with Sirius. Looking at Amazon downloading music is too much money for me. Even though I will pay $9 a month for sirus.... It's easier.

You can get a CD play that plugs in. Not as elegant as one that is built in, but will sound the same.

I do like Spotify, and we pay for a membership.

no commercials, just about everything is there

I still like Albums, and at one time they were one of the only streaming services like this that offered album streaming.

Pandora has up'd the game and offer it now too.

I'll add a third plug for Pandora (free). I don't listen in my truck but I do in my woodshop. The Peter, Paul & Mary channel is fantastic!

Most of the music I listen to is not offered from services. I have put my music on a usb drive as mp3s. When I buy music, I like to purchase CDs and then load them on my computer then convert them to MP3s. Once you learn to do this it is simple. They are like my own mix tapes.

This - my first car without a CD player was my 2018 - I was pretty angry at first, but really I don't spend as much time in the car anymore.

I loaded about 300 cd's into my computer and put about 4 gigs on a Sandisk media player and loaded a flash drive with a bunch of instrumental jazz etc.

It's time consuming, but it works well.

Only problem with mp3's is the disparity in volume - constantly adjusting during playback.

I don't have any problems with Sirius. Except that they try to charge me $24 a month every June and I have to call their number and tell them I refuse to pay more than six. I don't just listen to it in my vehicles, I have the Sirius app on my phone and my tablet.

Once you give in to Apple CarPlay, your whole world opens up. I used the free version of Pandora for a while, and I'm now starting Apple Music. But, beyond music, you get a ton of useful features from your phone. The Maps program, for example, is fantastic.

We tried all of loading devices then connected in the cars, the satellite radio, and different streaming services. We still listen to conventional AM and FM radio. We have some CDs in some cars. You can not use your phone but using the phone and the Android Auto or CarPlay is just far superior.

What makes our change even better is we have the Apple bundle that is the music, News+, TV+, and storage. In addition to the value and convenience we really appreciate the News+ that's wonderful with 300+ to maybe 400+ publishers now.

In getting over the old ways we also have a pair Apple's little speakers in the house and the TV hockey puck thing that lets you use all sorts of speakers. From all that you can mix and blend the audio all over the home. For example as I work on a project now my laptop and speakers in next room are playing and balanced. Next I have to go to work sites and same stuff will play in the old school car via cable or our car with Android/Apple dashboard.

Edit....

My wife will not buy another car without the CarPlay. Sure a Tesla dash lets you log in to music only. GM's stupid move to ditch CarPlay lets you stream from a device but it's inelegant. Rivian is likely moving to it with R2 and R3.

The other matter is the superior apps for navigation and updates. The car makers are relative idiots compared to Apple and Google staying on top of patching and improvements. Extreme fools or downright stooges when it comes to UI.
