Default Yamaha Stagepas 200 (loud enough?) or DBR10 & mixer & reverb pedal

I'm considering buying either an all-in-one PA speaker with mixer & effects:
Yamaha Stagepas 200,
or separates:
Yamaha DBR10, I have a mixer (no reverb, but have a reverb pedal).

The DBR10 is rated at 129dB max and is 500w (LF) + 200w (HF) max, 260w (LF) + 65 (HF) continuous.
The Stagepas 200 is rated at 125dB max. and is 150w (LF) + 30w (HF) max. Continuous (this is a guess): 75w (LF), 10-15w (HF).

The Stagepas 200 would mean fewer items to carry, plug in, pack away, etc.

Questions:
1. Have you tried both - which sounds better?
2. Would the Stagepas 200 be loud enough, for acoustic guitar & vocals only, in small UK pubs? Perhaps 50 people.

For easy in, easy out, go for the Stagepas 200. I have one on my short list. I owned a 1k. It was great but lacked midrange. The 200 has a coaxial speaker design. I have a 12" monitor from Yamaha with a similar design. It sounds excellent. I own 2 DBR10s also. My vote was for the DBR route since it's more versatile if you ever want to expand down the road. Two of them over DXS12 subs and you've got a FOH system that will handle a band. For the price of the 200, you can get the DBR10, a good mixer, and all the cables you'll need.

I’d go with a DBR10 and a Yamaha mixer which will come in way less than the stagepas.

The DBRs are great sounding speakers and I’m pretty sure the 10 weighs less than the stagepas.

You could also add another at a later date if you need better spread/coverage.

I’ve owned a pair of DBR10s and 12s. Never tried a stagepas 200 though.

Thanks for your replies.

The DBR looks like the most future-proof option.

Have you considered the new ZLX speakers by Electrovoice? The 12” is 127 db and the 15 is 129db and has a 2 input mixer on the back with effects. Channel two actually has two inputs for hiZ and regular. I get by having three inputs by plugging a mic into the mic, setting the level for it, then just setting the levels for my electric guitar using my guitar sim pedal. Super handy.

I bought the 15 so I could mic a kick drum through it. Sounds nice. I’ll post a quick video for you.

Check this out. This is at my fence line. You’re hearing the speaker approximately 65 ish feet away. It has a kick back feature so it’s leaning back. I have it’ set at -5 volume. It can go at least 8 more decibels depending on my settings. At +3 the limit light will flash when I hit my kick drum kinda hard but that’s no big deal it’s minor limiting happening. There’s absolutely no distortion at those volumes and it’s ridiculously loud. I did a gig with it the other day at an open air restaurant and ran it quieter than this. The 15 is 37 pounds and kinda tall but I like it for the lows. You probably would prefer the 12. I actually got it to see if it could replace my Evolve 50M. I personally think my guitar and drums sound a bit fuller through it. Similar volume levels, the drums limit it a tad earlier but nothing extreme. Vocals in the 15 are a bit bassier than the evolve but overall we’re talking a 650 dollar speaker vs 2200 and it sounds super good even off a stand honestly. It’s also cheap enough if someonething happened to it it’s less of a financial hit.

I’m a big fan so far.

No carrying worries. It will all fit on this with a cool name.

Thanks for the EV ELX suggestion and the trolley.

ELX are hard to get hold of in the UK. I decided to go with a single DBR10 and can add to it later.

Exactly! And is scaleable, as well. Enjoy!

I think the Stagepass 200 is a very elegant solution to acoustic amplification in a small box. It is not a super lightweight box, but it's about as small as you're going to get with those specs. I also like the design of the Mackie DLM speries speakers. I guess I am a sucker for symmetry and coaxial speakers.
