Default (SOLD) 1996 Guild A-50 Flat top Acoustic

Roughly an OM size flat top at about 39-3/4 inches in length. Lower about is roughly 15 x 4-1/8, upper is 11 x 3-1/2. Solid Sitka spruce top, gorgeous old East Indian Rosewood back and sides. Natural dark ebony neck and bridge. This has a roughly 1.8 inch wide nut width. Roughly 2-1/4 string spacing at the bridge.

The action string height at the 12th looks like 3/32 low E and 4 to 5/64 high E. There is good string break angle over the bridge with some room to go lower if desired. Combined height of bridge and saddle appears to be a healthy 30/64 inches. However, the saddle is wedged in tight and I am unable to remove it. It has a rich tone with a good amount of sustain. Balance is towards the lows, with a darker rather than a bright sound.

An enclosed note from a prior owner says there is an older Fishman Matrix powered pick up installed. It works well. The battery is simply attached to the neck block with Velcro. There is what looks like a metal battery holder off to the side that is near impossible to get at. For whatever reason there is an end pin for a strap mounted above the Matrix endpin jack. I didn’t change it as I haven’t worn it with a strap.

Condition wise, there are no playability or sound issues. Frets are good. No buzzing. Cosmetically it looks very good from a distance and was sold to me as such. However, I will be conservative and rate this as “good.” There are several finish cracks that in the right light will appear, and a few small dings here and there. The most noticeable is a finish crack from the pick guard to the bridge, that does not go through. There is also finish loss at the bridge as it appears the bridge might have been reset at some point and the finish peeled. I have kept it well humidified and things haven’t changed in the 5 years I’ve had it. There are light scratches to the headstock and pick guard, a finish crack at the nut, wear to the gold finish on the tuners. The case works fine, but there is wear to the metal finish on the case latches and the case itself.

I’ve added large close up pictures of the primary culprits. She ain’t no safe queen, but sings like an angel.

Shipped/insured to US-48 for $995 Paypal. $950 check or Paypal F/F. Available locally near Hudson, MA for $850 cash.
