Default Lower volume, more static?

I noticed that when I turn the volume down on my KNK with the James May Ultron ICAD on, as the volume goes down static starts to appear in my ears. I have an ear system, but I hear it in the speakers as well. Is that a cable issue or is that just what it does?when it’s wide-open, there’s no noise at all. Of course I used to play that way all the time so it’s not a big deal but I do like being able to turn it down a little if I’m gonna strum harder. Holler at me.

Hi Mark
Sounds like a dirty pot rather than the pickup.

Is it a constant noise (that sounds like white noise continuously) or just static when you dial it back?

I keep a can of pot cleaning fluid around (it was expensive…but a single can will last me more than a decade).

I tried it with all three guitars and a powered speaker that never leaves the house. More of a slight humm when the volume is turned back..then when all the way down, silent...all the way up, silent...in-between there is a slight humm. Probably would not even notice it if I was not using in ears.
