I had to go to martin direct for those specs. I’m guessing the d15M is built to mimic pre World War II guitars so they went old school with a few things Tone and mimicking that older vintage tone was of utmost importance Hence the lack of scalloped bracing Use of bone etc And genuine mahogany build We have to be very calculated with our purchases when living in the Caribbean. Particularly with luxury items like these They both seem like lovely guitars either way. I won’t be travelling anytime soon to get the opportunity to compare them in store unfortunately The nice thing about Martin guitars I’m seeing is that they don’t usually devalue that much particularly when you keep them in decent condition which is why in addition to the lovely tone they produce, I’m gravitating towards that brand The idea of an item holding it’s value is a plus .

All that said, the D15M is one I've been considering as I'd like a nice all-mahogany dreadnought. |

Well Ghost,
All I can tell you is you'll have to compare for yourself. I switch frequently between my 1 3/4" Martins and a 00-15M (1 11/16" nut). I don't really notice, like some. The 15 also has 1/2" more scale length, and I don't notice that either. I had a 000-10E briefly and currently have the 00-15 mentioned above. Really different animals. The 15 is alive in your hands, feather weight, and oh so resonant. It's worth the wee bit extra, all day. I would not hesitate to get a D-15. Oh yeah, bonus: Made in Nazareth and has a hardshell case. |

I've gotta do my promo for Guild and suggest you take a look at the Guild D-20 as well if you're considering a D15. Both great guitars, Guild just gets overlooked sometimes but are fantastic USA guitars.
Edit* Sorry I didn't realize I already replied, I thought this was another new thread of this topic Last edited by Wellington; 06-10-2022 at 06:08 AM. |
