Anyone in Southcentral Alaska looking for an Epi Masterbilt?
There's a Craigslist ad from a pawnshop on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway showing one:
˙˙˙ https://anchorage.craigslist.org/msd/5742643105.html The headline on the ad lists it as going for $285, but in the ad copy it's been dropped to $170. It isn't clear from the photo what the back and side wood is, and looking through the soundhole it could be either rosewood or their "mahogany"/sapele/whatever. I think it's rosewood, though. This is the square-shouldered dreadnought, not the AJ slope shoulder. While I prefer the AJ style over this model, it's still a nice guitar and worth getting. I owned for a while, then gave it to my daughter's boyfriend. He had no guitar at the time, so he needed it more than I did. Anyway, this is worth checking out if you're within reasonable driving distance. Wade Hampton Miller |

I love Epiphone Masterbilt dreads and jumbos--even the new ones! Although the advertised model isn't one, the DR-500MCE, in Natural or Vintage Sunburst, has been on my bucket-list for several years as an easy-playing, decent sounding--both acoustically and amplified--low-priced, knockabout guitar. This one looks like a good deal for someone in your area, Wade!

That looks like one of the older ones with a satin-finished top.
I used to have two of them, and they sounded very nice! I still have one of the rare birds, the elusive DR500RA with abalone trim... |
