I hope Taylor brings back the x55ce models as to me they had awesome tone. That may not ever happen, however, with the recent introduction of the GO 12-String models which sound awesome too!

I have the 150e and really enjoy it, but enjoy it even more after switching out the factory installed Elixir 80/20's for PB's - definitely quieted down the jangle. I think this is a great 12'er if it is not going to be a main player but just for the occasional song(s). The new 254ce is probably a good option also since you're looking for a fingerstyle guitar (I'm a strummer). I haven't seen one in my local shops yet unfortunately. These would be new options at the lower-mid end of your price range (I think). Not that I have a lot of experience with different 12 strings, but the one that haunts me to this day is a 2013 456ce-FLTD (rosewood b/s) that I had to wait to see if I was getting a Christmas bonus. I did get the bonus but the two local shops were sold out by that time, and then I realized I didn't that much guitar for my usage. I personally think any x56 or grand symphony Taylor is the way to go for a 12 string, they just didn't have one in my price range at the time.
Enjoy the search!
