Only ever played one.
It was old and obviously very low-end.
Steel string dred.
Don't know the model, the label was covered in blood.
Made the players fingers and ears bleed at the same time.
Nasty, real nasty.
Probably the worst acoustic guitar I have ever played.

Played a few back in the day.

All were surprisingly playable and had a very decent tone. At their price-point I don't see what more could be desired.

Fender has expertise in acoustic guitars like Martin has in electric guitars...

Hi Paully…
As a guitar teacher for 40 years locally, I heard and played a lot of them (which students owned).

They were great beginner instruments, and durable enough to hang onto for beach/camping/office guitars when they upgraded.

Fender necks were well constructed, and easy to set the action fairly low for beginners.

They were on par with other instruments in their spot in the guitar chain, such as entry level Epiphone, Seagull and Yamaha guitars ($150-400 range guitars).

I avoided them at all costs after playing one years ago. Then I said what the heck let me try this Fender out.

I agree they are on par with other guitars at their price point as Larry suggested. I was surprised. Sounded and played as good as the epiphone line to me.

I've played them at GC. Low end. Good setups, not tonally impressive, but fun to play. I didn't notice glue all over the place.

A friend of mine bought one of their 60th anniversary guitars used - spruce and cocobolo. A bit overbuilt but a really nice small jumbo. It has a nice voice and a fast neck so very playable. I think it is one of those things that can vary from guitar to guitar - some Fender acoustics are fine and some not so fine in my experience.

Best,
Jayne

The DG-8S Nat was the first acoustic my daughter picked up. She enjoys the guitar enough to play every day along with her violin.
