Default Andantino - nylon

This is recorded using a Cordoba C12 and a matched pair of sE8 small condenser microphones. The recorder was a Zoom F3. The sound file was edited using Izotope's Rx 10 Standard and then "mastered" in Reaper.

Andantino {Dionisio Aguado}:

That sounds really lovely, very warm. Excellent clean playing, too! Wonderful job on this, Barry!

Thanks Glenn! I took your advice and "fattened" the track up a bit more than I have in the past. Also, keeping the piece simple helps a bit too

Thanks again for your advice and taking the time to work on one of my soundtracks.

Excellent. And thanks for making me realise that not all pieces of this era were light and frivolous. I have tended to lump all the early nineteenth century guitarist composers in the same boat, maybe I should spend some time re-evaluating.

Default Andantino

Hi Barry,

I love the first slide! Initially, I thought you were just showing a representation of a Romantic era instrument. It was only after doing a little more research on the composer, that I realized it was an actual picture of Dionisio Aguado.

Now that is the kind of attention to detail that has to be respected.

The guitar looks like it could have been built in the style of the French luthier, Rene Lacote. Actually I read that Lacote built an instrument for Aguado.

The recording sounds great. It sounds as if the guitar is being played in a cathedral. What type of reverb/delay are you using to get that sound?

You're welcome, Barry.

It was a fun project, working on one of your recordings and seeing what could be done to add a little more depth to the sound. I'm glad you felt it was worthwhile, too!

Thanks Mike, I'm glad you liked it. The reverb for this one was Seventh Heaven using the "North Church" setting.
