Well, I just found the answer to my question in my original post here. The nuts were glued in with epoxy. I called Peavey and talked with the boss who is one of the old timers there and he said Locktite epoxy was used. So much for me removing it…bummer. I still like the guitar enough to keep it even though I’d prefer the 6th string a bit closer to the edge for easier thumb fretting.
