I guess you just can't build for everyone. I'm a finger-style, flat-picking, strumming player and don't have any issue with the 2.25" string spacing on mine. The "original designer" is one of the world's preeminent guitar builders and inlay specialists. Some of his guitars sell for over $100,000. Some of his Martin inlay guitars sell for many times that. That said, I've known Harvey about 15 years but I can't speak to what he plays. You could ask him, he's a member here.
