i agree - i've experienced the exact same thing
if you're looking for a standard model (non-BTO),
i'd recommend trying to play before you buy
there are dealers that have a return/trade-up policy
buying on eBay has worked out for me well in the past
for the most part - when it doesn't, though, it's a nightmare
