I have quite a few comfortable thumbpics for fingerstyle, but I have yet to find a thumbpick that is comfortable with up strokes. If it fits tight enough for them it's too tight for comfort.
But I try it a few times and then give up. I suspect if you get the right one and hang in there you could survive. I suppose the real question might be what are you trying to accomplish? I use BC, which are not slippery, so for me there would be no advantage to such a replacement theory.
