Over the years I’ve played several HD28’s and HD28V’s and to be honest I’ve not been a fan of either model . I have owned a D28 Marquis and played many others and they are a different animal.The adi top and the GE scalloped bracing on the marquis makes the difference imo.
I’ve looked at the Sweetwater HD28V custom guitars and the specs are almost identical to a D28 marquis apart from the slightly narrower nut with and string spacing. I bet these are amazing sounding instruments!
I also played a standard D28 with the satin finish a couple of days ago and was blown away how good it sounded. It has the 1 3/4 “ neck if that’s what you prefer ?
