Not surprising. The same unit but with different fixings is used on far higher spl instruments like sax, piano and violin. On those instruments the mic' gain can be kept lower so feedback is not as much an issue as with guitar.

You could just mic' your guitar with a dynamic stage mic' and have less of a feedback issue. Like here.



It is pretty easy to do with a bit of practice and has a lot of other advantages over a goose neck condenser mic' attached to the guitar. I'm struggling to think of any advantages of the dpa 4099 over just plonking a stage mic in front of your guitar?
