Not to slight his band-mates in the least, but Paul in particular seems to have a really good ear for melody. His melodies sometimes have a way of going where you don't expect and then returning in ways I really enjoy.
Perhaps the strongest testament to their melodies is the existence of so many instrumental versions by such diverse artists. Arthur Fiedler, who conducted the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops orchestras, was a big Beatles fan, for example.
