I was perusing the Buy, Sell, Trade
And this little guy popped up.
Takamine NPT 115.
When I found it, it was beaten, dirty, missing the shorter saddle & two strings.
But the pickup elements were there and seemed to work.
A quick exchange of a fairly small amount of cash and I’m now it’s custodian.
They guy I got it from got it from a guy that was moving and about to toss it in the dumpster!
I gave it a good cleaning, and polish.
Then I found an extra saddle lying about and snipped it a tiny bit oversized.
Then with much careful sanding and fitting I have a playable guitar.

It’s still looking a little beat down.
But this little guitar really sings.
And it’s the perfect size to play in my armchair.
The only thing I’ve been able to find from it’s model number (NPT 115) is that it was a Japan only model.
It’s Maple over Maple.
I was not prepared for it to sound so “big”.

Nice snag!
I don't know a lot about Tak's, though I do own a mid-90s G Series dread, Spruce over NATO, all-laminate (I think) and I can tell you it plays and sounds (at least to my ear) well above what I paid for it.

From what I do know, yours does appear to be a Japan-only release, and given the electronics, fret markers, split saddle, and 'winged' bridge, it appears to be one of their mid-to-upper level models of the time (early 90s?) ... reminds me of the old Santa Fe or Legacy series ...

All the best with it!

Thanks much!
It’s on the couch with me right now.
I found there is a metal piece in contact with the top.
I’m pretty sure it adds to the vibration of the top.
And that’s why it sounds like it does.
I’m really liking this little guit.

It is a favorite.
I love being able to pack it up and go at a moment’s notice.
